I love my Grandpa

We are all looking for uncle David`s wallet. In the wardrobe, between the sofas even in socks drawer. But it seems it has disappeared into thin air.

Uncle David is mad and his face has got red.

He says:” dear dad, why do you disturb our stuff? why?”

grandpa is sitting on a sofa next to the window quietly. He`s been sick for several months and can`t remember anything. He often calls my mom Mary whereas it`s my aunt`s name and she is not my mom look-alike.

Besides, sometimes he dosen`t know uncle David, either.

Uncle David`s wallet hasn’t been found yet. We sought everywhere but it`s nowhere.

grandpa scratches his head and says :”I`m hungry.”

Mom takes the lid off the pot. Yum! What a wonderful smell!

grandpa loves spaghetti . Mom opens the fridge to take ywhen she sees uncle David`s wallet in the sour cherry basket!

I burst into laughter but uncle David asks me to be quiet. He`s very angry. he tells grandpa: ”you drive me crazy” and close the door tightly.

 grandpa is still quiet.

I`m going to the kitchen to help my mom with lunch stuff.

I love my grandpa even if he doesn`t talk, even if he misnames us, misplaces the objects in the fridge or puts his watch right in the middle of sugar bowl.

I`m setting the table with mom and then going to call grandpa but he`s not there.

I cry: “mom, mom.”

She hits her head: he`s gone again.

Mom calls uncle David and dad.

We`re running toward the street to find him.

We`re looking for him in the park near home.

We search everywhere; among old men and trees but he`s not there either: In the bakery`s queue, Mr. Smith`s carpet shop, even in the ice cream shop on the corner. this is the second time he`s gone out. Last time he wanted to buy some bread but he lost his way home. Mom says this is one of Alzheimer`s symptoms.

mom is crying when her phone starts ringing.

This is Mrs. Adams, our neighbour. She says grandpa is ringing the doorbells of other houses on the street. We get back to our alley and see grandpa sitting on the stairs of one building  with his blue and white pyjamas.

I run and hug him tightly. It`s so cool that we`ve found him. I love grandpa very much even if he doesn`t talk,  even if he misnames us, misplaces the objects in the fridge or puts his watch right in the middle of  sugar bowl, as he always does.
